The day-to-day income the Severn Valley Railway receives from passenger fares, retail shops, pubs and catering covers the cost of running trains, including standard maintenance and restoration. But sadly it does not generate enough income to invest in improving and developing the Railway, which will be urgently required in future years, if it is to continue to be regarded as a leading heritage railway in the UK.
These include the development of the Railway’s northern terminus at Bridgnorth, the restoration of historically important heritage rolling stock, building new facilities and making essential infrastructure improvements.
