Payroll giving is an easy way to give money to charity. By donating a small amount each month from your pay cheque, you are not only helping the Railway, you are also giving in a tax efficient way.
Payroll giving allows employees to donate straight from their gross salary to the Severn Valley Railway Charitable Trust, giving immediate tax relief, and making their gifts go further. Your employees are given the option to opt in and donate anything from £1 a month – it soon adds up.
If 100 employees pledge £10 per month, the Severn Valley Railway Charitable Trust will receive £12,000 a year. This would enable a carriage to be restored back to its former glory for your employees to enjoy and thousands of other local members of the community.
A higher rate tax payer will get £4 back from this donation, so it only costs them £6 to give at this level.
Payroll Giving is a valuable, long term source of revenue, providing regular income to help charities budget and plan ahead more effectively. It's easy to set up a Payroll Giving Scheme for your business. There's little in the way of cost and administration, and you'll probably be able to adapt your existing payroll system to operate the scheme.
